How to Claim & Verify Your TikTok Profile: A Step-by-Step Guide

Whether you are a rising artist, a growing business, or a public figure, establishing your official presence on TikTok is crucial. Claiming your profile and getting that coveted blue checkmark not only protects your brand from copycats but also builds instant trust with your audience.

If you are ready to make it official, here is exactly how to navigate the verification process.

Before You Start: The "Pro-Tip" Checklist

Before diving into the settings, give your profile a quick audit. TikTok is much more likely to approve your request if your account already looks professional:

  • Use your real name or official stage/business name.

  • Upload a high-quality profile photo or official logo.

  • Link your other official social accounts (like Instagram or YouTube) to prove your identity across the web.

7 Steps to Claim Your TikTok Profile

1.Open TikTok:Step 1.

Launch the app on your phone and ensure you are logged into the exact account you want to claim or verify.

2.Navigate to Settings:Step 2.

Tap your Profile icon in the bottom right corner, then tap the three lines (☰) in the top right. Select Settings and privacy.

3.Secure Your Account Information:Step 3.

Tap Account, then choose Account information. Double-check that your phone number and email address are active and verified. TikTok will use these to contact you.

4.Switch to a Professional Account:Step 4.

Under Account control, select Switch to Business Account (or Creator Account). Having a professional account unlocks the tools required to officially manage a brand or public persona.

5.Locate the Verification Request:Step 5.

Go back to your main Settings and privacy menu. Tap Creator tools, then select Verification. From there, choose Personal (for individuals/artists) or Business/Organization.

6.Fill in Details & Upload Documents:Step 6.

Fill out the required fields and upload your supporting documents. This may include government-issued ID, official business licenses, or artist contracts, alongside links to recent press coverage.

7.Submit and Wait for Confirmation:Step 7.

Submit your claim. TikTok’s team will manually review your request, which usually takes a few days. If approved, the blue badge will appear next to your name!

💡 What if you get denied? Don't panic. TikTok usually provides feedback explaining why the request wasn't approved. You can adjust your profile, gather stronger press links, and reapply after 30 days.
